Now that we're officially into summer, I can't stop thinking about light turquoise and bright coral. They are literally just perfect for summertime, so naturally I'm lusting after a few things.

Hello Blog World!

Apparently my life decided to get crazy hectic and it forced me to take an unexpected break from blogging. I thought summer would mean that I would have more time to blog and relax, but so far I've ended up being ten times busier than I typically am during the school year.

I started my internship last week and that has me working eight hours a day, five days a week. It's definitely been an adjustment and I'm clearly still working on coming up with a schedule to efficiently use my free time.

On the weekends, I'll be working at the boutique that I've been at since high school & I'm also taking two summer school classes this summer, which means LOTS of work. In between all that I plan to find time to enjoy myself.....

I'll let you know how that goes. ;)

Birthday Recap!

I had such a great birthday weekend, and I am so glad that I got to spend it with friends and family!

To start out the festivities, I went out for dinner at Luxbar and for dessert at Sprinkles with my roommates. It was deeeelicious! We enjoyed the evening after by walking around, shopping and taking a gazillion pictures! After, we drove over to the apartment of my roommate's sister, which has the absolute best view of Lake Michigan! I literally cannot get over how adorable her apartment was...Must live there someday {in my dreams}.

Pretty normal day. I studied attempted to study and had to restrain myself from ditching my books to go downtown and shop. In the end, my self-control won, but I rewarded myself later when my family came down and took my sister and me out to dinner to celebrate both our birthdays. It was also deeeelicious!

Tuesday {My true birthday}
Honestly I didn't do much, but for me, low-key is the best. I woke up fairly early to make the most of my day, finished up all my papers that were due {Hello, summer!} and then just relaxed for a little. My sister and I went out for a little birthday lunch and then I made sure to catch the Pretty Little Liars and Dance Moms premieres later that night. My dad grilled some peppercorn steaks and made a mushroom sauce to put over it, which is one of my favorite meals! Of course dinner was followed by cake {Portillo's chocolate, of course} & presents and I was so grateful and happy with what I received!

My mom, my sister and I went shopping on Michigan Avenue and had lunch at my favorite little cafe, Pierrot Gourmet. It's probably on my top three favorite restaurants and if you're ever in the city, I would recommend you go here first. I didn't buy anything though, because I'm working on saving my money, but it was a lovely day to be out in the city!

All in all, this was one of my favorite birthdays! I would much rather have a simple celebration than an outrageous party, so the weekend suited me perfectly :)

Product Review: Bumble & bumble Bb Straight Blow Dry Cream

My hair is one of the biggest curly frizz balls that you might ever come across in your entire life. Normally, I just let it air dry and then either straighten it or use a curling wand to make it wavy, but if I'm in a hurry I have to speed up the process a little bit, obviously. I'll blow dry it and then take the straightener to my unruly mane to tame it and make it look a little more presentable, but that results in me using a lot of heat on it, and we all know that in the end, heat just creates more little frizzies. (It's like a giant vicious circle...) Anywho, I got a 2 oz. bottle of the Bumble and bumble Bb Straight Blow Dry Cream with my most recent purchase on and tried it out for the first time tonight.
You just rub some of the cream in between your palms, apply it to damp hair and then blow dry it with a brush. Typically when I blow dry my hair it still curls and frizzes A LOT, so I'll have to straighten my hair afterwards, but this actually kept my hair straight and fairly frizz free, which meant that I only needed to touch up a few pieces with the straightener! I wasn't crazy about the smell as it was a little too perfume-y for a hair product, in my opinion. However, I think this product would definitely be useful for people who have hair similar to mine, blow dry their hair on a regular basis and are looking for a way to speed up their routine or just use less heat on their hair overall.
I'll be back to a more normal posting schedule after tomorrow when my finals are finished and summer will finally be here!
