You Win Again, Taylor, You Win.

As a person, I am not a fan of Taylor Swift. Sometimes her voice bothers me and sometimes I wonder if she somehow confused singing with acting because it just seems like she always likes to put on a show. But her songs....I always love them.

My favorite from Red?

A) It's about Jake Gyllenhaal and, well, there's that.
{Anyone with Jake connections, feel free to hook me up whenever....}

B) I love how specific the lyrics are. It tells a complete story in five minutes and is written so much better than 99% of the songs that are in the top ten on iTunes right now. I don't know about you, but I don't care to listen to some artist repeat the same three lines for the entirety of a song. Not creative or talented at all.

C) It's one of those songs that you can just listen to over and over and over again. And I have.

So Taylor, while I may not be a fan of your shocked-award-show-winning face, or I feel that you put on a show too much and you can make your voice do really weird things sometimes, you win with Red.

P.S. if you want to feel like you're in high school again, dancing around at a sleepover with your besties, listen to 22. You won't be able to keep yourself from dancing. I promise.

If It's Not Moving, Monogram It

I've been super obsessed with monograms, lately. My sister and I bought a roll of vinyl the other day and cut out a bunch of monograms with my Silhouette. I've already stuck one on my planner and plan to cover several other things in my initials.

As a result I've been dying to purchase some other monogrammed items. However, seeing how "Help me, I'm poor" is probably my most-quoted and relatable movie line at the moment, it looks like I'll be adding these items to my Christmas list...

Also, Happy Birthday to my momma, although she refuses to acknowledge that she's another year older...I love you!

Monograms :)

Getting Back on Track

Midterms completely took over my life for the past three weeks. Aside from neglecting sleep, I was pretty bad about making it to the gym and eating healthy during this time. I'm definitely looking forward to getting back into a routine and making more of an effort to take care of my body.

While working out is important to me, I definitely notice a huge difference with how I feel and how much energy I have throughout the day when I eat healthy. Plus, even if you are working out consistently, your hard work can easily be cancelled out by a poor diet.

An excellent resource I like turn to is Tone It Up. The complete diet plan is definitely pretty pricey {at $150, it's yet to be something that I purchase ;) }, but the website is filled with tons of great exercise & nutrition tips and motivation to get you back on the right track. If you sign up for their e-mail news letter, they'll send you free workouts and recipes as well!

I also plan on making a trip to Whole Foods and stocking up. I'm looking forward to picking up some health essentials such as coconut water, goji berries and protein powder. Can't wait to get back on a health kick and feel better overall!

Jello Legs

I volunteered at the Chicago Marathon this weekend, and although I watch it every year on TV, there's something about being there in person that makes you want to jump the fence and run alongside all the participants (although some people, I'm sure, would argue that they would want to run far in the opposite direction).

I was helping out at the very end of the course after the finish line, directing runners to various hospitality tents. I loved it because I got to see every runner who raced and it was amazing to see how many people accept the challenge of running 26.2 miles. There were people who looked like they had just warmed up and then there were people who were clearly in pain. But the people who got to me the most were those who looked like their legs were going to give out at any minute, but couldn't have been any happier because they just accomplished something that they thought they would never do. I want to be one of them someday.

There was one older man in particular who came in at the end of my shift. He was running with his daughter and she was holding a sign that said "My dad is 85. What's stopping you?"Well if that doesn't get you thinking, I don't know what will. It made me want to start training instantly.

Running a marathon is something that I thought only crazy people did. Sure I love running, but anything over 5 miles has always been considered torturous in my mind. Now I have a completely different perspective on it and I want to be one of those people crossing the finish line with an enormous (tired) smile and jello legs someday. It's definitely going on the bucket list!

Have you ever ran a marathon, or considered running one?

Outfits of Late

Going through recruitment a couple of weeks ago resulted in me posting never and having to come up with some pretty fab outfits throughout the past couple of weeks. There wasn't any "required" attire other than to dress up for pref round, so I had a lot of flexibility in choosing my outfits. Here's a glimpse into what I wore:

Scholarship Round:

(Obviously working it in this pic...haha)
Shirt: Ann Taylor
Scarf: Lilly Pulitzer
Jeans: Abercrombie & Fitch
Boots: Cole Haan

Philanthropy Round:
Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Leggings: V-Fish
Boots: Cole Haan

Sisterhood Round:
Shirt: Artizia
Jeans: Forever21
Boots: Cole Haan

Chapter Round:

Blouse: Francesca's
Jeans: Abercrombie & Fitch
Boots: Yet again, Cole Haan

Preference Tea:

Dress: Theme
Heels: Sam Edelman
Belt: J.Crew

And what I wore today, just for fun :)
Tank: Juicy Couture
Cardigan: J.Crew
Jeans: Forever21 (seriously my favorite pair haha)
Boots: Sperry Topsider

It's now pretty obvious to me that I, no doubt, find my favorites and stick to them (pearl earrings and riding boots, anyone?) I'm definitely going to try and be a little more "adventurous" with next week's outfit selections ;)

Just Because

Happy October!
Fall is officially in full swing, and I couldn't be happier. If I could live in this weather year-round, I would be in heaven.

A couple weeks ago my sister and I randomly decided to send each other some goodies, just because. I think we were more excited to see how the other person liked the gift we sent out instead of how we liked our own gift that we received ;)

My little sissy completely spoiled me and stocked me up with all the fall essentials!

This is what I sent out: A goodie from Lush, some pretty pink nail polish, Baby Lips, a Starbucks gift card {for PSL's of course} and a pretty card.

I loved that these gifts were totally random and helped to spruce up what would otherwise be a blah week full of schoolwork!
