Summer Reading List

First of all, I can't properly start this post without saying congratulations to my beloved Blackhawks for winning the Stanley Cup last night in nothing short of an exhilarating fashion! Although I'm mourning the fact that I can't make it to the parade the city is throwing in their honor on Friday {#workinggirlproblems}, I'm looking forward to using this weekend to snatch up some championship gear and watching my family's name crawl ever so slowly up the season ticket waiting list.

Maybe by the time I'm 50....maybe.

Now on to the real reason that you're all here: now that it's summer, life is moving at a much slower pace, and I can't wait to use some of my spare time to cross some of the books I've been waiting to read off of my list. I'm always looking forward to starting a new title and would love to hear any recommendations that you may have for summer page turners!

Gone Girl
Last summer I never jumped on the bandwagon and read the book that everyone was talking about. After talking to a couple of friends I've learned that it may not be the best beach read, but none the less, I love a little murder mystery.

Lean In
In an effort to not let my brain turn to mush and to be inspired this summer, I'm really looking forward to hearing what Sheryl Sandberg has to say!

The 5th Wave
From what I've been hearing this book is supposed to be pretty similar to the Hunger Games. Hopefully this will be another quick read due to the fact that I won't be able to put it down!

Ladies' Night
Definitely something much more appropriate for the beach. I love books that are quick, fun reads, even if they may be a little predictable.

Side note: I'm thinking of abandoning my Nook for awhile. It's perfect for when I'm in the city and need something to read on the train to keep me busy, but if I have the choice, I will always prefer a hard copy to a digital one. Thoughts?

What's on your summer reading list?

  1. I loved Ladies' Night! It's definitely a beach read and super quick but I couldn't put it down anyways.

Can't wait to cross some books off of my own summer reading lists
