sarah jessica parker x nordstrom

I've never, by any means, been a "shoe person". My collection isn't vast and I'd rather stick to the practical basics, but lately when I've been ogling over outfits, I've been more and more drawn to the shoes.

When I saw that Sarah Jessica Parker was launching a new shoe line exclusively at Nordstrom, I knew they would be nothing short of spectacular. After all, shoes were the key to Carrie Bradshaw's heart, so I have a feeling that SJP knows a thing or two about how to design a killer shoe collection!

While the line doesn't hit Nordstrom stores until February 28, you can see several of the styles in this preview.

I'm noticing lots of color and classic styles! Can't wait to see them in person!

friday five // 03

ONE // WHY IT'S OK TO BE A QUITTER // Quitting can actually be a sign of maturity?? Apparently, "knowing when to call it quits shows a certain confidence informed by a real knowledge of who you are and what's right for you," according to this article that I came across on Something that I struggle with a lot, is knowing when to let it go or stick it out, so it was reassuring to see that this is a totally normal conflict to have with yourself.

TWO // COFFEE AND HONEYCOMB // I seriously love that my best friend in the blog world is also one of my best friends in real life. Not only does Jenny motivate me to keep on posting, but I always love every. single. post. that she writes. I can't get enough!

THREE // HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTESS // This site provides me with the perfect inspiration for all the parties I don't throw. From birthdays to baby showers, Jenn and her team have endless ideas for themes, and I love staying up-to-date on what's happening and trendy in the events industry.

FOUR // ICE SKATING // I went ice skating last weekend with friends at Millennium Park, and it was so much fun (look out for my Olympic debut in Sochi). Not only was the rink located right in the middle of the city, but snow was falling, and it wasn't too windy or cold - it was just a perfect winter day!

FIVE // THE APPLE STORE // For as much as going into the Apple store terrifies me, I'm so grateful that when my computer crashed on Tuesday morning that I was able to get it back the next day with ALL my documents safe and sound. I don't even want to imagine what I would have done (slam my head against the wall, cry for days, etc. etc.) if everything on my hard drive had been lost.x

loving lulu

I always thought I would be that person who didn't give into the hype of Lululemon, but ever since I bought myself a headband from there a few years ago, I've been on a downhill slope towards the bottom of my bank account. Hey, if I can't be rich, at least I'll be skinny and look cute!

While I'm certainly not on the same level of obsession as some of my friends yet, I'm finding that's it harder and harder to stay away from their stores.

Side note: While I was getting in my daily web-surfing, I came across this article about a woman who spent $15,000 on Lululemon in one year. I mean call me crazy, but that just seems a little excessive.

a brief interruption

I was in the zone and had so many posts drafted out and ready to go.....and then my computer crashed.

It's bad, folks. I'm talking flashing-file-folder-of-MacBook-doom bad. And guess who fell victim to I'll do it later syndrome when it came to backing up my hard drive? (It's me).

I took it into Apple today and left it there while they run some tests to determine if A. they'll be able to fix a part, which would allow everything on my hard drive to be saved or B. I'll need a completely new hard drive and therefore will be basically starting from scratch when it comes to my documents. I can only hope that the Genius Bar can work their magic!

Thank goodness I have my iPad that I can use to get homework assignments done, and if all else fails there's still the computers in the library. I might be MIA for a few days while everything gets sorted out, but hopefully I'll be back with some new posts sooner than later!

friday five // 02

ONE // SIENA TAVERN // Being friends with people who like to dine fabulously is both a blessing and a curse (only for my poor college wallet). My best friend, Kat, has been talking about Siena Tavern nonstop since, well pretty much since forever...but I finally went with her and tried it out last weekend. I love trying new food all the time, but I'm not kidding when I say that this was one of the best meals that I've ever had. I ordered the Coccoli and the Gnocchi and would highly recommend both (I even Instagrammed a trendy food pic, so that's when you know it's real). I know I'm going to be revisiting this restaurant several times, but the only problem I see myself running into is having to decide if I should try everything on the menu, or just stick with my tried and true favorites. If you're ever in Chicago, you need to make it a point to stop in here!

TWO // LOVE YOUR MELON // One of my roomies is friends with one of the founders of this awesome organization that provides hats to children who have lost their hair due to battling cancer. For every hat that is purchased, they donate a hat to a child. They are currently on their 2014 Smile Tour across the country to spread the word about their organization and smiles to children throughout the U.S. Last week, they stopped on campus to kick off their tour, and I got to learn more about this great organization and purchase an adorable hat. The founders are so genuinely passionate about what they're doing, that it was a no-brainer for me to support this great cause.

THREE // COPPER LEAF MANICURE // Normally I'm one to steer clear of any kind of nail art, but I'm drawn to this understated, but fancy design.

FOUR // MOROCCANOIL CANDLE // Moroccan Oil has expanded their offerings over the past year, and while browsing their site for some hair necessities the other day, I realized that they had a candle, which I can only imagine smells amazing. Imagine your whole house smelling like Moroccan Oil...I'm definitely not opposed.

FIVE // ONE DIRECTION REMIXES // It's no secret that I have a itsy bitsy thing for One Direction and I love listening to new spins on my favorite songs.

beauty game changers

I am a sucker for beauty products. I have more face creams and lip glosses and root boosting sprays than I will ever need, but for some reason I always have to try out the newest items on the shelves. That being said, I've recently discovered a few products that completely changed the beauty game for me. While I'm still obsessed with my Miracle Beauty Products, these are definitely new additions to that category!

Beauty Game Changers

I have always suffered from puffy under eyes and dark circles, but I didn't know how bad they were until I decided to try out the Garnier Skin Renewing Anti-Puff Eye Roller on a whim. Let's just say I'll never be caught without this product in my makeup bag ever again! Another product that I had always heard about, but never thought I needed was makeup removing wipes. I thought that since I wash my face every night with some sort of cleanser or scrub, I had no need for wipes. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I was wrong. I use the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes to wipe off all my makeup and then use a cleanser to wash my face, and I notice such a difference. I've only recently added this step into my nighttime routine, and I can already notice my skin clearing up!

Another great product for your face is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask. It comes in a powder form and you can mix it with water or apple cider vinegar to create a paste to slather on your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes and you'll have clearer pores, along with smoother and brighter skin. Seriously such a miracle product and it's super affordable too! Finally I love body oil to moisturize my skin, especially during this harsh Chicago winter. This Moroccan Oil Dry Body Oil not only smells amazing like their hair products, but it is ten times less greasier than other body oils that I've used, while still being just as moisturizing.

I can't get enough of these products and will certainly be using them for a while!

friday five // 01

What a week! It was my first day back at classes after a seven week winter break and, as always, has certainly taken me a little while to get adjusted. Between getting used to a new schedule, fitting in time to hit the gym and catching up with friends that I haven't seen in ages, this week was a doozy, but that that doesn't mean that I couldn't find some time to find some gems on the web this week. Enjoy!

ONE // The Carrie Diaries // My latest Netflix craze? Binge-watching the early years of Carrie Bradshaw's life, of course. I watched all the episodes in about two days, granted there is only a season and a half so far, but that's still pretty impressive. Strangely enough this show inspires me to crack open my journal and write until my hand aches, and not to mention Austin Butler's smoldering gaze sure isn't bad to look at! I can't wait for the newest episode tonight.

TWO // Lie Witness News // I stumbled across this video while was killing some time on Tumblr one day and I found it hilarious and alarmingly accurate. My favorite band is no doubt Regis and the Philbin's.

THREE // Beanie Babies // I was ecstatic when I came across this article that shows some of today's valuable Beanie Babies. I mean, who wasn't obsessed with collecting these guys when they were little? Not even a week ago I gathered up our old collection to give away, but as soon as I saw this article I emailed my mom and told her to dig through the box to see if we have any that were worth some money...stay tuned, my friends!

FOUR // Reading // Over break I finally had the chance to chill out and read some books that I had saved to my Goodreads account for a while. I'm making sure that I keep this up, even when winter quarter gets going and I'm slammed with school work. I want to make sure that reading is a priority for me. So far, so good!

FIVE // 28 Things You're Only Afraid Of If You Live In Chicago
Peace, love, Chicago....#19 also happens to be the story of my life, unfortunately.

snow day!

So far 2014 has begun with a flurry (so punny!) of snow and chilly weather. On top of the seven inches that we received last week in Chicago, right now we are being dumped with another 5-10 inches followed by what is being predicted as record breaking temperatures (the high tomorrow is only supposed to be -10!).

Classes were supposed to resume tomorrow, but they've already been cancelled, so instead of packing up my bags and driving back to school today, I'm avoiding reality for just a little longer and staying inside, hunkering down near my heater and catching up on some long awaited TV shows while I write and read some of my favorite blogs! Days like this definitely call for sipping a latte (if you're brave enough to venture to Starbucks to pick one up) and enjoying the view of the sparkling snow from the inside!

Hope everyone is staying warm!

As much as 2014 scares me because of the endless unknowns, I'm always up for a fresh start, a clean slate and new promises for myself. I know resolutions get a bad rep, especially when they only last for a week or so for most people, but for someone who keeps meticulous lists and sets goals on the regular, coming up with a set of resolutions is a no-brianer. Here's a few things that I'm hoping going to achieve in 2014:

Be in the best shape of my life // I know that this seems so much like the typical "lose weight" resolution, but as long as I can guarantee that I'm taking good care of my body, making healthy choices (meaning not going to Devil Dawgs as much as I did fall quarter) and doing things to make me happy then I couldn't care less about the number on the scale. I'm young and have a lot of time of my hands, which is something that won't be true once I graduate and head into the real world, so it's essential that I get into good habits for my health now.

Have a job lined up by the time I graduate // This is something that I feel so strongly about and I will make sure that it happens. Although I have absolutely no idea where to start with the process, I'm going to make sure that I begin buckling down on this task and getting my name out there.

Connect with more bloggers // While I blog as a means of keeping a journal, I want to start making connections and building relationships with other bloggers like me, so if you're reading this say hi down below and I will be sure to stop by your blog and check it out!

Stick to a savings plan // I've been pretty good about adding money to my saving's account all throughout my life, but I want to make sure that I have plenty saved up once I graduate. I'm thinking of following this plan that Carly posted last month.

Say yes // I'm done saying what if and thinking of the worst case scenarios. No more no's and a lot more yeses are in store for me for 2014!

What are you hoping to achieve in 2014?
