10 instagrams you need to be following

Aside from scrolling through Pinterest for hours upon hours, a peek at Instagram can always provide me with the best inspiration. I'm always in search of new accounts to follow, and if I find myself with a few minutes to spare, I'll hop on to the Explore page to see if I can find a new favorite. The ten accounts below are my "go-to's" when seeking cute outfits or motivation.

_thelustlist_ Sally takes the cake for the most gorgeous and most realistic watercolors. Fueled by the motto, "if I can't have them, I'll draw them," she is constantly putting out paintings of beautiful things that I find myself lusting after as well.

collegeprepster I love following Carly on her adventures throughout New York. She is the epitome of class and working hard to achieve what you want and is a constant source of inspiration.

rachparcell Every outfit that Rachel posts is so perfectly, yet effortlessly styled and makes me wish that we shared a closet. She provides endless outfit inspiration and not to mention, I love her new house that her and her husband recently built.

lizschneider_ I love following this Chicago blogger who happens to live right in the same neck of the woods that I do. It's always interesting to see where she is out and about in the city as well as the various outfits that she puts together.

theeverygirl_ From effortlessly chic entertaining to what to wear on a job interview, this Instagram covers it all!

katie_kime Love, love, love this Instagram. Katie's photos are full of funky patterns and designs, as well as some snapshots of her adorable children.

citrusandstyle Everything Caroline posts is perfectly preppy and instantly makes me want to be whisked away to Martha's Vineyard, sipping a San Pelligrino by the shore.

lemonstripes Julia makes life in NY look so simple and laid back. Great outfits, delicious food and lots of champagne are plentiful!

kylajicha I am beyond obsessed with all of Kyla's perfectly styled photos bursting with color and Lilly prints. And of course, I love that she's just as attached to her planner as I am ;)

ashleybrookdesigns I love a good desk shot and Ashley hands down has the best. Her photos are filled with bright colors, cute stationery and of course, confetti!

birkenstocks are back?

Apparently the newest fashion trend to be resurrected from the depths of the list of fashion no-no's is Birkenstocks. They were the shoes that you had to have during eighth grade and freshman year, so much so that I vividly remember taking them off outside of the gymnastics gym during freshman year gym class, only to be utterly confused at the end of class as to which pair were mine. Every girl had the same exact classic pair of clogs, varying only slightly in different shades of taupey-brown. In fact, I still have my well-loved pair tucked away in my room at my parents' house.

Fast forward eight years, and the boring Birkenstock has gotten quite the update, switching out neutrals for floral accents and closed-toed clogs for sandals. There's no doubt that these shoes are more fashion forward these days, but I'm still not sure that I'll be running to the store anytime soon to pick up a pair.

What do you think? Are you buying into this "new" trend?

friday five // 08

ONE // 30 THINGS TO LOVE ABOUT SUMMER // Everything that I love about summer has just been summed up in this list. What am I looking forward to? Books that don't involve brain power {I've already plowed through a couple of beach reads}, a constant supply of iced coffee and going barefoot, of course  :)

TWO // 30 DAY THIGH CHALLENGE // In keeping with the "30" theme, I wanted to share this progressive thigh workout that I found on Pinterest. It's the perfect way to get those thunder thighs ready for the summer sun!

THREE // LARA CASEY - MAKE IT HAPPEN // If you are ever in need of the slightest bit of inspiration, you need to read Lara's blog. I have so many plans and ideas for post grad life swirling around in my head, but bringing them to fruition is always something that I struggle with. Lara's Make It Happen movement is just the thing I need to keep me constantly motivated. Seriously, it speaks to me people! She is releasing a new book at the end of the year and you can bet that I already have it pre-ordered and am anxiously awaiting the newest addition to my bookshelf!

FOUR // WORLD CUP // This should be a given, but I'm planning on tuning into as many games of the World Cup as I possibly can. I love the upsets, the controversies surrounding unquestionable calls and overall just watching some quality soccer. While it kills me to say that I don't have high hopes for the U.S. team {they have to beat Ghana in their first game, which is quite a task in itself} I always love watching them and rooting for the home team, even if I'm still a little salty that Landon Donovan didn't make the cut this year :(

FIVE // JOHN MAYER XO // Just listen. I listened to this wayyy too many times over the past week while studying for finals.

Happy {almost} Summer!

life lately

As I embark on my last week of college ever {scary!}, I couldn't resist sharing what's been up with my life the past few weeks as I've been missing from the internet. Between finishing up my internship, being thrust headfirst into the real world applying and interviewing for big girl jobs, getting my apartment broken into and robbed {#k...} and making sure to soak up every last minute of college {aka the only time in my life when it's socially acceptable to go out to a bar on a Tuesday night and down a couple of Vegas bombs}, I've just felt like I needed some time away from blogging. I was at the point where I felt as if updating felt like more of a chore and a homework assignment than something I wanted to do. I was so wrapped up in other aspects of my life and just felt completely uninspired, but now that it's finally spring/summertime in Chicago {two months too late, but whatever}, I'm ready to get back on my game!

I've had so much fun celebrating my last quarter of college and making sure to soak up all the time I have left with my friends before I head off to start the rest of my life.
